Background:
On May 28, 2026, the Judicial Nominating Committee met to consider the positions of the Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge of the Broken Arrow Municipal Court. The Committee voted to recommend that Dennis Sagely be reappointed Presiding Judge. Pursuant to Section 14-6.1 of the Broken Arrow Code, the Mayor may reappoint the sitting Judges or request that the Committee submit the names of three additional nominees for each position.
The City's relationship with the Presiding Judge is generally handled contractually. The attached Employment Contract for Professional Services is consistent with agreements utilized in prior years. The contract will expire on June 30, 2028.
Currently, the Presiding Judge, Dennis Sagely, earns $4099.72 per month, plus FICA. A proposal for a 3% increase to the contract has been suggested. This would result in Judge Sagely earning $4,222.71 (an increase of $122.99) per month.
