Title:
title
Consideration, discussion, and possible adoption of Ordinance No. 3462, an Ordinance amending Chapter 2, Article IX, Section 2-151-Attendance; specifically giving the City Manager authority to direct dates for holidays if celebrated on a weekend and providing for other minor revisions; repealing all ordinances to the contrary; and declaring an emergency
End
Background:
The City of Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances provides that holidays that fall on Saturday will be celebrated on Friday and holidays that fall on Sunday will be celebrated on Monday. Due to the 2017 Christmas holiday falling on Sunday and Monday the current language would result in City offices being closed on Monday and Tuesday of the same week. This change in ordinance allows the City Manager to direct the days off of non-bargaining employees. In regards to the 2017 Christmas holiday, it has been requested that staff be off work on Friday, 12-22-17 and return to work on Tuesday, 12-26-17. The Ordinance was previewed on 12-6-2016. Staff recommends that the Ordinance be adopted by the Council.
