Acceptance of the Drainage Advisory Committee's recommendation to approve expenditure of 2018 General Obligation (GO) Bond, Proposition 6 funds to construct erosion control measures and channel cleaning along the bank of Haikey Creek at the Diocese of south Tulsa
End
Background:
The case was brought before the Drainage Advisory Committee on January 27th, 2025. The Committee voted 6-0 to recommend approval of expenditure of funds.
The proposed project at 12300 E 91st St is to construct erosion control measures along the bank of Haikey Creek near the Diocese of South Tulsa.
Staff investigated the site and found that the bank of Haikey Creek, south of Washington Ave was eroding on the Diocese property.
The four-cell box culvert under Washington Ave (91st) near the Diocese of Tulsa in Broken Arrow was widened during the roadway widening project. The construction/widening of the boxes was completed, but the armoring did not take place. The armoring project was bid out by the City in 2021 and did not receive any bids.
The increased velocity has caused the south bank of Haikey creek to erode. The project will be to clean the box culvert, the north channel, and to construct erosion control measures to armor the south-east bank.
Money for the design portion of this project was presented and recommended by the DAC on 4/29/24. It was also approved by City Council on 5/7/24.
Staff is requesting $430,000.00 of the 2018 GO Bond, Proposition 6 for construction costs.
This area flows to Haikey Creek.
