Approval of and authorization to purchase Saferide green bicycle lane coating from Thorworks d/b/a Sealmaster pursuant to Sourcewell Contract No. 050625-TWK, Project ST26060

End

Background:
As part of the South Main Street pavement rehabilitation project, authorized by city council in the fiscal year 2026 budget, pavement markings will be reapplied after the asphalt milling process. Contractors will place the white and yellow markings, and city forces will complete the green bicycle lane paint spanning from the railroad tracks down to Washington Street.

The coating material that will be applied by City of Broken Arrow crews is Safe Ride Bicycle Lane Coating M2280P. This product is a specific coating that is approved for bicycle traffic that provides improved texture for slip resistance.

The requested material is available through Sourcewell Contract #050625-TWK, which offers competitive pricing and eliminates the need for a separate bid process. Sourcewell is a cooperative procurement agency serving government entities, and all vendors under contract have already gone through a thorough competitive bidding process. This ensures compliance with public procurement requirements while delivering cost savings and efficiency.

Funding for the material will be supplied by Street Sales Tax, Fund 343, under project ST26060.

Staff recommends utilizing the Sourcewell Purchasing Cooperative for this purchase rather than issuing a new bid, as it significantly reduces the time and administrative costs associated with preparing RFPs and conducting a formal solicitation process.

Cost: $66,998.59
Funding Source: Street Sales Tax Fund 343
