Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of a 90-day extension to adopt the updated Zoning Ordinance

Background:
Community Development is working with Kendig Keast on the new zoning ordinance. This was presented to Council on November 7, 2023 for preview and tentatively scheduled for adoption in late January or early February. Additional items which need to be addressed prior to the final adoption include the zoning map, the land use compatibility matrix in the comprehensive plan, and the residential zoning conversion matrix. As we near this deadline, staff has come to the realization that we are unable to meet this time constraint and would like to request an additional time to complete these tasks.
The acting Community Development Director is requesting an extension of this deadline for up to 90 days so that staff can dedicate the necessary time and attention needed complete these items. Should the update be completed prior to the expiration of the 90-day extension, action will be taken prior to that date.
