Broken Arrow City Council

Meeting of: 08-19-2025

Title:

title

Approval of and authorization to execute the purchase of mobile communication radios for the police department from L3 Harris Technologies Inc

End

Background:

The Police Department is requesting City Council approval for purchase of 16 Harris XL185M mobile communications radios with microphone and vehicle mounted antenna. These new radios will be installed in eight of the 2026 patrol Explorers and eight of the 2026 patrol Tahoes.  We will seek approval from Council to purchase these vehicles shortly.  Harris and Motorola are the two most reputable manufacturers of public safety radios in the nation.  Through Sourcewell contract pricing the city can purchase Harris radios for much less than the list cost of both Harris and Motorola radios.

Funds have been appropriated and are available in STCI and Police Department’s portion of the Public Safety Sales Tax Fund.

Cost:                                                                $102,718.69

Funding Source:                     Public Safety Sales Tax Projects 2630010 and 2630020

Requested By:                      Lance Arnold, Chief of Police

Approved By:                      City Manager’s Office
