Presentation and update of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) project and the Broken Arrow Main Street Bikeway, presented at the March 22, 2018 Planning Commission Meeting

End

Background:

The City of Broken Arrow applied for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 15-16 Surface Transportation Program (STP) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds for design and construction of the Broken Arrow Main Street Bikeway.  It is a combination of bikeways (striped bike lanes along streets), signed routes (bicycle symbols and signage to encourage vehicles and bicycles to share the road), and trails (off-street trails).  These plans were prepared by Landplan Consultants.  Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is advertising this project through its bidding process to obtain a contractor to build the facility.

The local funds to build the Main Street Bikeway have been approved by the Council previously and deposited with ODOT.  No additional funds needed at this time.
