Background:
The City of Broken Arrow Emergency Management office, with the help of other City Departments and citizen involvement has updated the Broken Arrow Multi-Jurisdiction Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Communities are required to update their plans every 5 years to ensure eligibility for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation grants.
The hazard mitigation plan describes possible actions taken to help reduce or eliminate long-term risks caused by hazards or disasters, such as flooding, earthquakes, wildfires, tornados, or dam failure.
In the event that any future City of Broken Arrow improvements are eligible for hazard mitigation grants, FEMA requires a community Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan update to be presented in fulfillment of requirements of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program according to the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act be adopted by resolution.
