Title:
title
Approval of and authorization to purchase one (1) 2026 Chevy Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle from John Vance Fleet Services, pursuant to the Oklahoma Statewide Vehicle Contract #1000009315
End
Background:
Law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Oklahoma are able to purchase vehicles at the state contract price, which is advantageous to the political subdivisions by allowing them to make purchases at lower prices. The Police Department is seeking to purchase one 2026 Chevy Blazer EV pursuit vehicle for the Patrol Division. This fully electric crossover style patrol vehicle will be used as a pilot program to confirm what is believed to be the viability of additional electric vehicles in the police fleet. The Chevy Blazer EV is adequately sized and provides equal or better comfort than other patrol vehicles. Additionally, the Blazer EV is all wheel drive which has proven to be more stable in all weather conditions and makes the vehicle capable of traversing snow and ice. This will be the police department's sixth all electric vehicle, but only the second assigned to the patrol division. The Tesla model Y was put in service in 2021 and has proven to be much less expensive to own and operate than gas patrol vehicles. Lastly the price of this vehicle is slightly less expensive than its most similar gas-powered patrol vehicle, the Ford Explorer. This means we will realize operational savings immediately. The Telsa took approximately 30 months to begin savings due to the considerably higher purchase cost over gas patrol vehicles at the time.

Vance's state bid quote for these Tahoes is $47,893.65.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in the police department's fiscal year 2026 budget.
