Doug Dodd with Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, LLP, for providing counsel and legal advice regarding planning and zoning matters, including related litigation and conflict of interest and ethical issues

Background:

On January 16, 2018, the City entered into an agreement with S. Doug Dodd with the law firm of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, LLP to provide counsel and legal advice. Doug Dodd is a well-respected attorney with vast legal knowledge and experience in zoning matters, litigation, conflict of interest and ethical issues. 

 

The attached First Amendment is requested to change Section V, Fees and Expenses to increase the Maximum fees, costs, and expense cap from $30,000.00 to $50,000.00. The firm charges $330.00 per hour for work completed by partners, up to $210.00 per hour for associates, and $140.00 per hour for paralegals.  Routine costs such as copying and postage are addressed in the Agreement. 

 

Staff recommends that the Council approve the First Amendment and authorize its execution.
