Award of the most advantageous bid for the purchase of replacement cattery cages from Snyder Manufacturing Company for the Broken Arrow Animal Shelter
End
Background:
The Police Department is requesting the city approve the purchase of new cattery cages for the Animal Shelter. The current cages used to house and care for cats are original to the building and are in a state of disrepair. This order would replace all cages in the facility necessary for the care of cats. Purchasing acquired (4) bids to complete this project. Tim Boni, Animal Control Manger, has requested we use Snyder Manufacturing to complete the project. Mr. Boni advised Synder Manufacturing was the only company to meet our requested bid specifications for overall size and features. These features include controlled access with porthole covers to each litter area, tempered glass and half-horizontal bars making cleaning easier and allowing for proper air flow, and a cage bank with removable partitions to increase the housing size when caring for multiple kittens or nursing mothers. Further, Snyder uses a proprietary fluid in which the cages are dipped, making them scratch and mold resistant over time. Finally, Snyder ships their cages fully assembled and installs the cages upon arrival, something the other companies did not offer.
Funds have been appropriated and are available in Police Department’s portion of The Public Safety Sales Tax.
