Approval of and authorization to execute an Amendment to the Vision 2025 Capital Improvements Agreement for Nienhuis Park Infrastructure
End
Background:
The original Capital Improvements Agreement providing $6,000,000.00 in Vision 2025 funds for Nienhuis Park was approved April 19, 2004, and was amended three times. The agreement provided funding for construction of the Nienhuis Park Swimming Pool, Youth Community Center, and Gym, and design for a Multipurpose Center. The City Council approved a new Community Center/Nienhuis Park Project Capital Improvements Agreement to replace the original agreement on October 16, 2012, and it was subsequently approved by the Board of County Commissioners on October 22, 2012. The 2012 agreement provided for $238,272.92 in funding, which the City used to construct picnic pavilions and drainage improvements at the Swimming Pool. Those funds expired March 1, 2014, with $38,077.99 left unencumbered.
Amendment No. 1 to the 2012 agreement extends the project completion date by which the remaining funds must be used to April 30, 2016. The remaining funds will be used to provide lighting in the Community Center parking lot.
