Background:
The New Orleans Street Widening from Garnett Road to Aspen Avenue project (ST24200) is an un-named 2018 GO Bond, Proposition 1 Transportation Project is currently under design by Poe & Associates, Inc. Under the current design agreement scope, hydraulic analyses have shown little improvement to roadway overtopping frequency can be achieved focusing on the existing bridge and channel only. To provide increased roadway overtopping for the project, staff negotiated and amendment number 2 to provide options for improvements to the existing bridge and channel as well as an addition of an overflow structure to the east of the main channel.
Services provided in this amendment include additional hydraulic modeling (including Haikey Creek main channel bridge and proposed overflow bridge structure located east of main channel); optimization of roadway overtopping frequency; analyses to confirm no-rise; floodway analyses; standard bridge design; roadway profile optimization; proposed channelization for overflow structure; hydraulic reports with recommendations; and miscellaneous other design efforts.
Staff recommend approval of amendment number 2.
