Consideration, discussion, and possible preview of an Ordinance amending Chapter 24, Article 1, Section 24-18--Restricting use of water during emergency; specifically providing that emergency water restrictions will be handled in accordance with the City of Broken Arrow’s Water Conservation Program; repealing all ordinances to the contrary; and declaring an emergency

Background:

The City of Broken Arrow Water Conservative Program (WCP) is a short-term water emergency plan that enables implementation of a three-stage water conservation approach during periods of extremely high demand or water shortages.  The program is to assure City customers of adequate water supply to meet their basic needs during these unusual periods.  The temporary, short-term water conservation program is designed to be used only as long as an emergency situation arises.

Amendment of Section 24-18 of the Broken Arrow Code will enable emergency water restrictions to be handled in accordance with the City of Broken Arrow Water Conservation Program, which was adopted by the City Council on June 20, 2016.  Staff recommends that the Council preview the Ordinance and set it for adoption at the next meeting.
