Progress update of construction for the emergency installation of sanitary sewer line required to repair a break in the County Line Trunk Sewer (Project No. S.1609)

End

Background:

On April 21, 2016, the County Line trunk sewer overflowed due to significant failure in the 36-inch reinforced concrete sewer line located under 101st Street.  At the meeting of April 22, 2016, the City Council declared an emergency and waived formal competitive bidding.  Staff ordered the necessary supplies and began the process of working with private construction contractors to expedite the required repairs.  A purchase order for 120 linear feet of 48-inch reinforced fiberglass pipe and fittings was issued, and the pipe started arriving on April 25, 2016.  McGuire Brothers Construction, Inc. was engaged to assist with installation of the pipe.  Any necessary contracts will be submitted for ratification at a future meeting.

City forces were onsite the morning of April 21st initiating bypass pumping and shutting down the intersection of 101st Street and County Line.  The contractor mobilized equipment and started work on April 23, 2016. This presentation will cover the construction progress to date.
