Background:
In 2018 Broken Arrow Citizens approved the General Obligations Bond which included a project for a new Rose Garden located at Central Park. The project is to be in conjunction with the Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful organization. The Rose Garden is to be located west of the Central Park Community Center on the far western edge of the property.
On October 4, 2022 City Council voted to award a Professional Consultant Agreement with R. L. Shears Company, P.C. to prepare Conceptual Design and a Master Plan for the new park. City Staff and R. L. Shears worked with Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful to come up with a plan that fits their vision for the project and remain within budget.
The Master Plan includes several separated gardens allowing the City to provide a variety of garden types. It also includes seating, a future water feature, a future gazebo, walking trails and fitness equipment. City Staff and Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful have reviewed the Master Plan and recommend it for approval.
City Staff has negotiated Amendment No. 1 with R. L. Shears Company to complete the design for the project and provide Construction Documents.
