Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of an update to the hotel rebate guidelines

Background:
There has been a request to discuss and potentially make an update to the current hotel rebate guidelines by adding a maximum award amount or ‘not to exceed’ amount. Currently, the hotel rebate is $500 for every 12 hotel room nights with no cap. The average amount awarded is $15,000, and the highest rebate request in recent years is $40,000. Staff requests that the board discuss and decide if the guidelines should be updated to include a maximum rebate amount.
