Approval of and authorization to execute a Professional Services Agreement between the City of Broken Arrow and John Barnhart, P.C., Attorneys and Counselors at Law for providing outside counsel and legal advice regarding Workers’ Compensation matters

Background:
John Barnhart with the law firm of John Barnhart, P.C., Attorneys and Counselors at Law, has been providing outside counsel for the City of Broken Arrow for Workers’ Compensation matters for over twenty years.
The attached Professional Services Agreement retains Mr. Barnhart’s expertise for such matters and outlines the costs associated with applicable services. Mr. Barnhart has noted a rate increase this fiscal year; a rate change for the first time in over 15 years due to the increasing costs and cots of living adjustments. Mr. Barnhart’s fees will be unchanged from 2025-2026. This agreement will be effective until June 30, 2027, and will be renewed annually, if needed, with Council approval.
Cost: approximately $125,000 (dependent on total claims received and litigated)
Funding Source: Fund 660 Workers’ Compensation
