Background:
The City of Broken Arrow has selected to apply for FFY 2022-2024 Tulsa Urbanized Area Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant funds for the Oak Avenue Bike Route and Florence Street HAWK Pedestrian Signal Crossings. This is the No. 1 priority project out of 2 projects that will be submitted for this TAP application cycle. The project consists of two (2) signalized (Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons AKA HAWK Pedestrian Signals) mid-block crossings, construction of trail connections for use with those crossings, addition of signage and sharrows as well as other miscellaneous improvements along Oak Avenue from New Orleans Street south to Florence Street, then crossing Florence Street, and continuing south on Redbud Avenue to Miami Street. The HAWK Pedestrian Signals are located near the Oak Avenue intersection with Florence Street, and the Ash Avenue intersection with Florence Street, and include trail connections paralleling Florence Street at both locations. The project, all inclusive, is estimated to cost approximately $1,200,000.00 with a TAP Grant request for $755,000.00 and a City match of approximately $255,000.00.
