Approval of and authorization to execute a First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement between the City of Broken Arrow and Kristen Brightmire with Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, LLP, for providing counsel and legal advice regarding employment and labor law

Background:
The City and Doerner, Saunders, Daniel and Anderson, LLP entered into an agreement on August 15, 2017 for the firm to provide counsel and legal advice to the City regarding employment and labor law. Kristen Brightmire with the law firm of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, LLP is a well-respected attorney with vast legal knowledge and experience involving labor and employment law.
The attached First Amendment is requested to change Section V, Fees and Expenses to increase the Maximum fees, costs, and expense cap from $30,000.00 to $100,000.00. The firm charges $300.00 per hour for work completed by partners, up to $210.00 per hour for associates, and $140.00 per hour for paralegals. Routine costs such as copying and postage are addressed in the Agreement. Staff recommends that the Council approve the First Amendment and authorize its execution.
Cost: Not to exceed $100,000.00.
