Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of and authorization to award the lowest responsible bid to Myers-Cherry Construction, LLC, and approve and authorize execution of construction contract for General Services Center Administration Building (Project No. 2517170)
End
Background:
As part of the 2022 Needs Assessment Report, multiple facilities and departments were reviewed to determine a plan for facility upgrades, location of personnel, and department reconfiguration. The administration portion of two departments, Maintenance Services and Solid Waste & Recycling, are growing in correlation with the city’s growth. Both departments have staff sharing facility space located at 1700 W. Detroit but the director, managers, and other administration members are located at a separate facility. This project is to construct a new administration building to be the public face of the center on Detroit St. and will bring all the administration staff to the complex and provide more customer engagement. The facility will serve citizens who utilize the city’s waste voucher system, provide bids for the purchasing division, and meet with the department managers and directors.
The project was advertised on October 1st, 2026. A pre-bid meeting was held October 9, 2026. There were 9 bids received on Tuesday October 27, 2026. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. This project included a base bid package for the building and site improvements. Alternate 1: asphalt scope for the parking lots and drive; Alternate 2: a sign allowance for $10,000; and Alternate 3 a $110,000 contingency allowance. The base bid and all alternates are recommended for award. The lowest responsible bid for these items was from Myers-Cherry Construction, LLC. for $2,573,000.00. The Architect’s estimate for these items was $2,344,246.99.
