Background:
During the May 5, 2015 City Council meeting, Mayor Craig Thurmond nominated Councilor Mike Lester to fill Position One on the Downtown Advisory Board. Mayor Thurmond’s appointment was unanimously approved by the Council. An item of discussion during the appointment was the Mayor’s recommendation that the City Council representative not serve as Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson.
The Broken Arrow Downtown Advisory Board at their regular meeting on August 11, 2015, reviewed and recommended approval of the amendment to the Broken Arrow Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Administration, Article XVI, Broken Arrow Downtown Advisory Board, Sections 2-230 and 2-233. These amendments would require rotation of the Council Members every four (4) years and provide that the Council Member would not serve as Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson.
