Background:

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Mayor Thurmond directed staff to prepare Resolution No. 1383 encouraging the wearing of masks while in public in the City of Broken Arrow. Resolution No. 1383 is not an ordinance, but rather a resolution by the Broken Arrow City Council encouraging individuals to do the following to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in the City of Broken Arrow, including the following:

1.                     It is encouraged that all Broken Arrow citizens and those visiting Broken Arrow properly wear a mask while in public;

2.                     The City of Broken Arrow and the City of Broken Arrow Police Department, pledge their support to those places requiring the use of masks/face coverings and pledge to provide assistance in instances where individuals refuse to comply with the standards established by the business owners or property owners as allowed by Oklahoma State Statute and the City of Broken Arrow Ordinances;

3.                     It is encouraged that, in addition to the use of masks, Broken Arrow residents and those visiting Broken Arrow take further steps to reduce community transmission of COVID-19 by keeping six (6) feet of physical distance from others, avoiding touching their faces, engaging in regular handwashing and avoiding group gatherings whenever possible.
