Background:
The project consists of constructing a new 8” waterline to replace and improve 4” and 6” waterlines in the existing water distribution system. Approximately 1640 linear feet of 8” water main will be constructed along Freeport Street and Main Street and approximately 150 feet of 6” water main across Main Street and along Freeport. There are 3 open cut street crossings, two across Main Street and one across Freeport Street for continuity, connections to existing waterlines, and water accessories such as fire hydrants.
The project was advertised on November 20th and 27th, 2023. There were four (4) bids received on December 11th, 2023 with the lowest responsible bidder being Cherokee Pride Construction Inc. with a bid of $483,140.00.
This Change Order No. 1 addresses the following additions to the contract:
• At the direction of COBA engineering and construction staff, additional quantities of repair have been identified for work above and beyond the original quantity within the contract, but still within the scope of the project work within the project corridor. These items include additional concrete pavement patches due to unforeseen grade and pavement conditions, subgrade modifications, and additional sidewalk. The line item quantities noted within this change order shall be extended such to contractually cover the associated additional work.
• At the direction of COBA engineering and construction staff, additional quantities of construction have been identified for work above and beyond the original quantity within the contract, but still within the scope of the project work within the project corridor. These items include additional fittings due to unforeseen necessary vertical and horizontal alignment change. The line item quantities noted within this change order shall be extended such to contractually cover the associated additional work.
