Presentation regarding road closure of Main Street just north of the intersection with Fort Worth in association with the Old Town Waterline Improvements Projects
End
Background:
The Old Town Waterline Improvements project is to replace an aging 8-inch cast iron water main with a new 12-inch PVC water main that will increase reliability and water quality.
The proposed road closures will allow COBA Utilities R&C crews to safely complete the underground water main crossing of Main Street from east to west underneath Main Street.
Section 23-28 of the Broken Arrow Code provides for the closure of roads during construction. It provides that City personnel or contractors, while repairing or improving the streets of the city, and city personnel and utility companies, when installing, improving, or repairing lines or other public facilities in the streets, are hereby authorized as necessary, subject to control by the City Manager, to close any street during the repair, maintenance, or construction. Closure is, of course, predicated on the erection of proper control devices and barricades to warn and notify the public that the street has been closed to traffic.
The road closures will take effect at Main Street just north of the intersection of Fort Worth Street with detour routes being implemented to shift traffic accordingly and is incorporated within the associated Road Closure Permits. The road closures will be implemented between 9:00 p.m. of August 19th through 10:00 a.m. of August 20th. One lane road closures will begin on August 21st and August 22nd for the asphalt patch repair.
Traffic signs and a message board will be placed in the roadway prior to closures alerting the traveling public of the pending detours.
