Title:

title

Consideration, discussion and possible approval of Drainage Advisory Committees recommendation for expenditure of 2018 General Obligation bond funds for drainage design improvements to a drainage channel located in the 6100 Center Commercial subdivision

End

Background:

The case was brought before the Drainage Advisory Committee on October 27, 2025 for design funds to design drainage improvements to an existing concrete lined channel on private property in the 6100 Center Commercial subdivision located between 1804 N. Willow Ave. and 1901 N. Willow Ave. The committee voted 6-0 to recommend approval of expenditure of funds.

The existing channel was constructed in 1985 using spray cement. The water is flowing under the concrete channel, as the bottom of the channel has failed and the sidewalls have washed out. The property management company has attempted temporary repairs but proven insufficient. The deterioration of the channel poses potential risks and adverse impacts to surrounding property owners. There is an existing sanitary sewer line that runs parallel to the drainage channel as well that could be at potential risk from the eroding channel.

Part of the channel was damaged when the City came in to make repairs on the City’s sanitary sewer system.

This is in the Haikey Creek Watershed.

Staff is requesting $50,000.00 of the 2018 General Obligation Bond Proposition 6 funds to design drainage improvements to the existing concrete lined drainage channel.
