Background:
On March 11, 2026, a case was opened by Code Enforcement for the dilapidated structure (house) and the detached structure located on the property. An inspection showed the house, garage and detached structure to be in the following condition, which according to State Statute and City Ordinance meets the definition of a dilapidated structure and is eligible for demolition: The garage has wood rot and a dilapidated roof. The detached structure has wood rot and dilapidated roof. The house has cracks in the foundation, dilapidated siding, the house has been completely gutted on the inside with exposed electrical wiring and framing, Broken windows, missing doors, wood rot and missing boards and is a safety hazard. A Courtesy Notice was mailed to the property owner on March 11, 2026. An Order to Correct and Repair was posted and mailed certified to the property owner on May 28, 2026. A Public Hearing Notice was posted and mailed certified to the property owner on July 10, 2026. A revised Public Hearing notice was posted and mailed certified on September 2, 2026. Code Enforcement talked with the property owner numerous times throughout the process and gave extensions to comply. Property owner applied for a remodel permit but never followed through with the process. There have been no improvements made to the property and communication with Code Enforcement has ceased.
