Approval of and authorization to refurbish and remount two (2) 2019 AEV ambulance bodies from the Fire Department’s existing fleet by Professional Ambulance Service DBA SERVS and declare two Ford F550 cab/chassis from unit 1970 and unit 1975 surplus for the purpose of trade-in

Background:

The Broken Arrow Fire Department is requesting authorization to move forward with the remounting and refurbishment of two 2019 AEV ambulances, Units 1970 and 1975. This is part of the department’s long-term vehicle replacement strategy, which emphasizes cost efficiency and operational consistency by remounting high-quality patient compartments onto new cab and chassis assemblies.  Remounting typically takes 5-7 months, significantly faster than the 24-36-month lead time for ordering new ambulances. Additionally, remounting saves 40-50% compared to the cost of full replacements.

This will mark the department’s fifth and sixth remount projects. The remounting process significantly extends the life of our existing ambulance fleet while reducing turnaround time and cost compared to full ambulance replacements. The purchases will be made using cooperative pricing through buying consortiums which satisfies competitive bidding requirements under the Oklahoma Competitive Bidding Act and City policy.

Details:

The total cost of the remount (cab/chassis and remount) is $549,942

Chassis Costs: Two Ford F-550 cab/chassis units have been located at a cost of $183,350.

Remount Services: The total remounting service cost for both units is $366,592.00 after $22,000.00 trade in credit.
