Background:
Design for the widening of 37th Street Pavement Reconstruction from Kenosha Street to Albany Street has been completed and Engineering and Construction Department staff worked with the design consultant to prepare construction documents for letting. The project includes full-depth pavement reconstruction and widening from two-lanes to three-lanes, stormwater improvements, 2963 LF of Rural Water District 4 waterline, and concrete sidewalk along the east of the project.
The project was advertised for bids on April 9 and April 16, 2024. Bids were opened on April 30, 2024, and six (6) bids were received. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. The bids submitted were composed of sixty-two (62) pay items to form the Total Base Bid and twenty-three (23) pay items to form Alternate 1 bid. The Base Bid includes all items related to construction of the roadway improvement, and the Alternate 1 bid includes all items related to construction of the Rural Water District #4 waterline relocation. The pay items in Alternate 1 would provide for a relocation in-kind of the twelve (12) inch existing waterline.
The lowest responsible combined bid was submitted by Cherokee Pride Construction, Inc. for $4,087,474.00 ($3,473,132.00 Base Bid and $614,342.00 Alternate 1 bid). The engineer’s Base Bid plus Alternate 1 estimate was $5,560,355.75.
