Background:

At the October 6, 2015 meeting, The City Council approved an Agreement for Plan Supervisor with CoreSource, Inc. to provide third party administration for the employee health and dental plan for calendar year 2016.  During the implementation process, CoreSource advised City staff that their maternity program would no longer be offered as a service.  The maternity program is a case management program that educates pregnant participants on how to have a healthy pregnancy and provides resources for participants that are identified as having high risk pregnancies.  This benefit has been offered as part of the employee health plan for several years.  CoreSource did agree to continue the service for a short period of time to allow City staff time to find a new vendor.

Human Resources Staff requested EmployerAdvocates, the City’s employee benefit consultant, to obtain quotes from other companies that provide this type of program.  Two proposals were provided for consideration.  However, during the initial evaluation of the proposals, CoreSource offered to continue to administer the program for the City during the term of the agreement. By continuing the service with CoreSource, there will be no disruption to plan participants.

The fee for the CoreSource maternity program, Alere, is $0.75 per month for employees eligible to participate in the employee health plan.

Cost:                                                                $4,410.00
