Approval of Minor Change Order C01 for Construction Contract ST1505, Stacey Lynn 6th Addition - Mill & Overlay

End

Background:

The 2011 Streets General Obligation Bond included a project described as “Stacey Lynn 6: Repair, mill, and overlay streets with curb repairs and construct handicap access ramps as required.”  Bonds for the project were sold in December 2014.  Engineering and Construction Staff prepared bidding documents for the project, and the project was advertised for bids on March 2 and 9, 2015.  Bids were opened on March 31, 2015.  The lowest responsible bidder was Mac Construction, Inc., with a proposal of $549,600.00.  Funding for the improvements came from the 2011 Streets General Obligation Bonds. The contractor was issued a notice to proceed June 15, 2015.

This Change Order addresses changes required to increase the contract time for the project due to the unforeseen conditions in the existing asphalt paving.   Approximately 40% of the subdivision required full depth removal, with six (6) inches of aggregate base installed, and full depth buildback with asphalt. This change includes 30 additional contract days, extending the day count to 90 days.

Also within this change order is an adjustment of $8,342.38 in deduction due to the asphalt binder adjustment per contract documents.  Staff recommends that the Council approve the Change Order and authorize its execution.
