End
Background:
The Fire Department budgeted the purchase of Eight (8) Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Laptop computers to replace the current Panasonic CF19 EMS Laptop computers which have been in service since mid-2011. These replacement Laptop computers will be purchased from Dell under the Oklahoma Statewide Contract for Computer Equipment, Peripherals, and Related Services, State Contract # SW1020D Contract Code WN26AGW. All State Departments, Boards, Commissions, Agencies and Institutions, as well as Counties, School Districts, and Municipalities may purchase from this contract. Pricing under this contract is good through March of 2020.
Section 2-27 of the Broken Arrow Code addresses exemption from full competitive bidding for supplies, materials, and equipment. It provides that formal bidding is not required when these items can be purchased at a price not exceeding that set by the state purchasing agency. All equipment on the State Contract has been competitively bid and purchase by the City is authorized by State law.
The Fire Department recommends the State bid from Dell for the purchase of these Eight (8) Laptop computers, Twelve (12) docking stations, and Twelve (12) antennas as the most advantageous. The docking station and antennas will be installed in the Twelve (12) Fire Department Ambulances, which includes all Reserve Units. The price for the computers and associated hardware is $41,500.84. Pricing and options are reflected in the attached quote from Dell Computers. Funds for this purchase are available in the 2008 General Obligation Bond Fund and the Sales Tax Capital Improvement Fund in the amount of $42,000.00.
