Approval of and authorization to execute an agreement with Trane to supply and install two (2) package rooftop units at the Police and Fire Training Center phase I via the OMNIA Partners Purchasing Cooperative
End
Background:
This request for approval will complete the HVAC system replacement and upgrade for the Police and Fire Training Center Phase I building located at 4205 East Omaha Street. This building, which has been in service since 2004, experienced a major heating system failure in 2023, resulting in significant flooding and damage. Following City Council approval in June 2023 for part of the repairs, which included replacing fan-powered mixing boxes, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, and upgrading the building automation system (BMS), this new request seeks to replace the two rooftop package units, finalizing the HVAC upgrade.
This building, Police and Fire Training Center Phase I, serves as a crucial site for police/fire training, community meetings, and voting precinct activities, maintaining its infrastructure is essential. The recommendation is to source the equipment and installation through OMNIA Partners, a procurement cooperative for government agencies that ensures cost efficiency and compliance with competitive bidding processes. Trane, a vendor under the OMNIA contract, has provided proposal number L2-QTRAAW-23-006 for this purchase. Utilizing OMNIA Partners for this procurement saves time and costs compared to the traditional bid process, ensuring the City meets its needs promptly and economically
