Consideration, discussion, and possible approval of the Sponsor and Artist agreements for the City of Broken Arrow Utility Box Public Art Program

End

Background:

Broken Arrow recently launched a public art initiative in the Rose District. Broken Arrow is joining communities like St. Louis, Minneapolis and Los Angeles by turning utility boxes into works of art. Currently, there are three utility boxes located in the Rose District at Dallas, Commercial and Broadway on Main Street that have been vinyl wrapped with art provided by three local artists.

Due to the positive response that was received by the initial program launch, the City will work with local artists and sponsors for future utility box designs.  Artist and Sponsor Agreement forms were created to outline the criteria and program details.  All artwork will be approved by the City Manager prior to installation on the City utility boxes and must carry a rose theme.

A Request for Proposal was sent to several local companies to provide a quote for the vinyl wrapping of the utility box project.  Kryptonite Kustomz in Broken Arrow was the only company that responded to the RFP and will be the company utilized for the continuation of the project.  Kryptonite Kustomz is the same company that provided the initial three vinyl wrap designs.
