Ratification of Workers’ Compensation Court Order for Mark Jackson, Street and Stormwater Department Employee
End
Background:
The City received a Workers’ Compensation Court Order for Mark Jackson, an employee in the Street and Stormwater Department. The Court Order is presented for the City Council’s ratification.
On February 23, 2012, Mr. Jackson reported that he had sustained an injury as a result of cumulative trauma to the right hand and right arm (elbow). His last exposure to this trauma was July 8, 2015.
The Court found Mr. Jackson sustained 20% permanent partial impairment to the right hand and 18% permanent partial disability to the right arm (elbow). The Court determined that he is entitled to compensation totaling $30,200.50. The sum of $6,040.10 will be deducted from the award and paid to his attorney, Mr. Phillip C. Hawkins.
The Order also requires the City to pay taxes in the sum of $830.51 and a filing fee in the sum of $140.00. These amounts will be placed on the payment list for council approval.
The City’s Workers’ Compensation Attorney advised that there is no basis for appeal and recommended that the Order be approved by the Council. Due to the requisite statutory deadlines, payments required by this Order were previously made, thereby necessitating the Council’s ratification.
