Background:
STP-172N(45)IG of City of Broken Arrows Project # ST0914 - 23rd Street Improvements from Houston Street to Kenosha Street project includes: pavement widening from 2-lanes to 5-lanes with curb and gutter, stormwater improvements, waterline improvements, sanitary sewer improvements, addition of both sidewalk and sidepath, new traffic signals at 23rd & Houston, and construction of a new bridge over SH51 (Broken Arrow Expressway). Due to federal funding being utilized, the project was bid and awarded by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) with Sherwood Construction being awarded the job. The project is currently under construction with the contractor being overseen by ODOT’s construction management consultant Benchmark.
During construction, several issues have arisen which require a change order to the executed as bid contract.
Change Order #1 addresses the following additions /deletions/changes to the contract:
During the start of the project and evaluation of the as bid sewer line relocations along 23rd Street specifically at the College St. intersection, it was discovered that the current plans conflicted with the designed sewer relocation plans that were made within a more recent Broken Arrow Municipal Authority project and required adjustments to as bid plans. The main changes with the issued plans attached to this RFA is modifying materials form HDPE to PVC, coating the manholes, adjusting elevations, changing to composite style manhole lids, and adding an allowance for unforeseen waterline changes. The contractor has submitted the attached change order costs to cover the deductions of the original line items costs and adding in the non-bid line items for execution.
The total cost for Change Order # 1 amounts to $55,334.50
