Background:
In 2021 the City of Broken purchased the Public Works Field Office building from Windstream, for the use of both the Utilities and Streets & Stormwater departments. A space study has been performed to determine the best utilization of the space. This project will use the space study as a guide to design the 7,000 SF offices and work areas for the Utilities and Streets & Stormwater departments.
The project was advertised on July 25, 2024 and August 1, 2024. A Mandatory Pre-Bid meeting was held on August 1, 2024 and on August 6, 2024. There were three bids received on August 22, 2024. The Certified Bid Tabulation is attached. This project included a base bid: to renovate the inside of the building and replace a portion of MSF wall panels (as required); Alternate 1: to add a thin brick panel system to the outside stem wall of the building; Alternate 2: to replace the entire exterior MSF Wall Panels; Alternate 3: to install the fume hood equipment for the water quality lab; and Alternate 4: a $60,000 Contingency Allowance. The Base Bid and all alternates are recommended to be awarded. The lowest reasonable bid for these items was from Ascend Commercial Builders for $1,700,314.98. The Architects Estimate for these items was $2,436,000.00.
