Approval of Memorandum of Understanding between the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) and the City of Broken Arrow to allow CLEET to use the police firing range and academy building in support of CLEET’s basic state police academy

End

Background:

After a near two-decade absence, the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) will be returning to the Tulsa Technology Center located at 4000 West Florence Street Broken Arrow, OK. The move is, in part, designed to save costs and aid in logistical planning for the state’s basic police academy. The Executive Director of CLEET has made a formal request that his organization be allowed to use the firing range and other police academy buildings owned by the City of Broken Arrow in support of their training efforts. Staff at the Police Department recognizes that such an arrangement would contribute to an enhanced working relationship between the organizations and aid in providing safe, well equipped training environments to the future of Oklahoma law enforcement. Further, City owned facilities at the Broken Arrow Police Academy grounds are available and the period of availability coincides with CLEET’s proposed timeline. Preliminarily, CLEET has forty (40) students from a variety of law enforcement organizations already scheduled for their summer academy in Broken Arrow.
