title

Review of bids received, award the most advantageous bid to Chief Fire and Safety, and authorize the purchase of the fire apparatus equipment for the Spartan ERV Fire Pumper Truck

Background:

The Fire Department requested and sought bids for fire apparatus equipment. This fire apparatus equipment will be assigned to the recently purchased Spartan ERV Fire Pumper Truck.  Funds were appropriated and are available in the Sales Tax Capital Outlay Fund in the amount of $70,348.00.  Eight (8) dealers submitted bids.  Bids ranged from a low of $7,977.00 to a high of $42,516.01.

The Department’s need for this is critical to place the Pumper in service as a front line Fire Attack Pumper.  Each bid was evaluated based on the completeness of the equipment list requested, equipment performance overall value and the potential impact on the Fire Department’s ISO rating.  The equipment will provide the needed inventory for an ISO equipped Fire Attack Pumper and provide the apparatus with all the necessary equipment for a front line pumper.

The bid submitted by Chief Fire and Safety provides the most complete list of requested inventory at the best overall value.  The equipment is able to be delivered from Chief Fire and Safety in 60 days. The bid tabulations show the base price and various options of the eight (8) bids submitted.  Considering the bids submitted, Chief Fire and Safety is the most advantageous and is recommended for purchase.
