Background:
VBA staff is requesting approval of the purchase of a set (5 total pieces) of portable, large-scale "I ❤ BA/BROKEN ARROW" letters to be used at conferences, community and visitor events, employee events, Christmas in Broken Arrow, etc. The letters are each 6’ tall, durable and lightweight so they can be easily moved.
The letters would serve as a reusable branding asset and photo/selfie backdrop that helps promote Broken Arrow wherever we go. People naturally gravitate toward photo opportunities, and these types of displays generate organic social media exposure while creating a sense of community pride and place.
With our increased focus on recruiting conferences, events, film productions, and visitors, having a portable and recognizable Broken Arrow presence would be a valuable addition to our marketing toolkit. Unlike a traditional marketing expense that runs for a limited time, these letters could be used for years across dozens of events annually by tourism and other departments.
After receiving three quotes and selecting the lowest bid, the total project cost is $16,818.67 which includes shipping. VBA funding is available in the FY26 budget due to the $25,000 that was originally budgeted for fireworks for the 2025 Block Party but was ultimately not utilized after the fireworks component shifted to the Community Development budget.
This project presents an opportunity to invest in a long-term asset that will continue promoting
Broken Arrow well into the future.
